Join two artists, Vahagn Hambardzumyan and Zara Gasparyan, in their studio to learn about the roots of Armenian ceramics and decorative art forms. After a tour of Sisian Ceramics—founded by Vahagn and Zara in 2004—this husband-and-wife team will lead a workshop to paint some of their homemade ceramic pieces. Weather permitting, the workshop will take place outdoors, overlooking a panoramic view of the city and mountains.

The beautiful natural landscape around Sisian and the nearby petroglyphs on Ughtasar Mountain have inspired their art—pottery for Vahagn and batik for Zara. Likewise you can paint one of these petroglyph designs or a different motif typical of Armenia on your small plate or magnet, which becomes a memorable souvenir from your visit to Sisian. While you wait for your art to dry, Vahagn and Zara offer refreshments on their balcony.

Vahagn and Zara also offer other master classes at their studio, including throwing clay mugs on the potting wheel or painting a batik scarf. In addition, many works of art at the studio are available for purchase.

On a nice day, the painting lesson occurs on the balcony, with views of Armenia's landscapes.
