Pan-Armenian Khorovats Festival

08/18/2018 - 08/19/2018

Celebrated since 2009, the Pan-Armenian Khorovats Festival is held in the village of Akhtala, in the Lori region, which is called “the Khorovats (barbecue) capital city” of Armenia. Cooks representing different restaurants, bars, and other organizations participate in the festival, serving up khorovats and participating in competitions. Festivalgoers can taste pork, beef, mutton, fish and vegetable barbeques, followed by the award ceremony for best flavor, best look and best concept.

The festival promotes the region and raises awareness of Armenian national cuisine. The festival is organized by the Armenian Cookery Traditions Development and Protection NGO with the support of Akhtala city hall and Lori Marzpetaran.

The Khorovats Festival is a member of the Association of Armenian Festivals.
