If you’re looking for organic wines and experimental alternatives to mass production, Trinity Canyon Vineyards may be the place for you. It is one of the younger wine production facilities in the Vayots Dzor region, established in 2009 by a trio of wine enthusiasts, including the author of Aygi: Vineyard of Akhtamar, a guide to Armenian wines.
During your tour of the winery, you will see how Trinity’s winemakers respect the traditions of Armenian wine production by using terracotta vessels (karas) to produce natural white and red wines from their centuries-old vineyard. During harvest season, volunteers may sign up in advance to help pick grapes and to join in the post-harvest celebrations, where you may appreciate a classic red made with Areni noir grapes or taste one of their small batches made with indigenous and international varietals.
Trinity is a member of DiVine Group, which operates several wine bars and restaurants in Yerevan and promotes Armenian wines in Armenia, France, and United States. It also owns In Vino, a hip wine bar in Yerevan that is pioneering Armenia’s wine drinking culture. In addition to wine tastings, Trinity offers a variety of packages for hungry travelers that perfectly pair their wines with delicious foods. While you sip a glass, Trinity can also arrange traditional folk music and dance lessons, vineyard and winemaking tours, as well as customized events.
Note that all tastings are by reservation only.
