Armenia has always been rich with artisan traditions. Well-known Armenian architects and masons helped to build and decorate famous cities like Tbilisi in Georgia, Isfahan in Iran, and Istanbul in Turkey.
Today in Armenia, and especially in rural communities, talented and dedicated artisans are revitalizing and restoring crafts traditions with true handmade masterpieces. Visit some of these artisans in their studio and get a hands-on look at the many traditions that make up Armenia’s cultural heritage, like wood carving, stone carving, embroidery, carpet weaving, and pottery.
Many of these artisans have open studios and shops where they sell their work, which can be found here.
